EVENT@HAND ICBA 2024

ICBA 2024The International Society for the Study of Behavioral Addictions (ISSBA) provides an international forum for professionals dealing with the study and treatment of behavioral addictions. The 9th international ICBA conference (International Conference on Behavioral Addictions) organized by ISSBA was held in Gibraltar July 8 – 10, 2024.

The organizers of the ICBA 2024 conference have already used the services of ConfTool, a web event management system, to prepare and conduct the programs of their events. Participants at previous conferences could only get detailed information indirectly, by entering the ConfTool system. Thanks to the unique development created by the eLearning Department, an integrated and up-to-date solution was realized with the ConfTool system, which made it possible to directly access detailed information on a smartphone. The smartphone app offered additional useful services, e.g. favorites list, event reminder, interactive map, etc.

Users of the ICBA 2024 EVENT@HAND smartphone application could access program information, as well as data about presenters and abstracts. In line with the expectations of the organizers, all changes made during the event were not only available in the ConfTool, they also immediately appeared in the smartphone application. In addition to these, the app contains other useful information, for example, about the conference organizers, transportation options, and event locations. The use of unique visual elements in the customized application (icons, images, colors), already strongly related to ICBA conferences, contributed to the preservation and strengthening of the previously formed image of the event.

Thanks to the innovative approach of the development, it became possible to provide similar services to organizers and participants of other, future conferences managed in the ConfTool system.

EVENT@HAND AI & AUT EXPO

AI & AUT EXPOCo-organised by the National Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and the National Laboratory of Autonomous Systems, coordinated by SZTAKI, and Neumann Nonprofit Public Benefit Ltd., the international AI & AUT EXPO was held in the Railway History Park between 14-15 February 2023.

The two-day event featured presentations by more than 60 speakers from several countries. The presentations were accompanied by an exhibition of related professionals where, in addition to demonstrations from research institutes and universities, visitors could also see solutions from industrial partners of the national laboratories. The main focus of the event, attracting international interest, was to present a wide range of achievements in the field of artificial intelligence and autonomous systems and to establish new international and industrial relations.

The EVENT@HAND AI & AUT EXPO smartphone application was created to provide various services and support for participants and visitors of the event.

The application includes introductions of the organisers, the presenters, the titles and short summaries of the presentations, basic information about the exhibitors, the exhibits, the programme of each session and the conference venue. Other key features of the app include a reminder service activated before the start of each selected presentation and a favourites list to be compiled from the content available in the app. A GPS-based interactive map helps the user to find the event venue. After the end of the event, the same information remains accessible in the app, but with additional content including recordings of the presentations and reports featuring exhibitors, available online.

EVENT@HAND GIREP2019

GIREPThe International Research Group on Physics Teaching (GIREP) was founded in 1966. Its annual conferences bring professional organisations and individuals involved in the field together to disseminate the results and good practices in improving teaching methods. GIREP, together with several associated organisations (ICPE-EPEC-MPTL), held its International Conference on Physics Education in Budapest from 1-5 July 2019. The event was provided diverse support by the smartphone app.

Particular interest was paid to the conference due to the 100th anniversary of the death of Roland Eötvös, and it was granted both conceptual and financial support by UNESCO. In order to commemorate his extensive scientific and social activities, a number of other events and celebrations were organised, which on several occasions overlapped with the official conference programme.

In addition to presenting basic information about the organizers and the conference, the EVENT@HAND GIREP2019 application also provided information about further events, presentations, venues and recommended hotels. The easy-to-navigate programme list, divided into sections, also provided the possibility to set reminders for presentations of interest to the user. Detailed information on the speakers was available, and an online version of the abstract was also made accessible after the conference.

INFO@HAND DiPP

DiPPThe conference series Digital Presentation and Preservation of Cultural and Scientific Heritage (DiPP) has been organized in Bulgaria since 2011 every year. In line with its name the key focus of the conference series is on theoretical and practical achievements around Presentation and Preservation of Cultural and Scientific Heritage.

The main goal of the development of the INFO@HAND DiPP mobile application was to provide versatile support to participants and visitors of the conference, as well as for those interested in its main subject.

The app introduces – among others – the organizers, the goals and key topics selected for the given year, and the conference venue. The user can set reminders to presentations in the detailed program and assign favourite marks to selected presenters and articles. The app can also be used as a thematic database, due to its rich content of the yearly events, including all authors and articles, from 2011 on up today. Several hundred authors and articles can be reached by surfing or via textual search.

In addition to employment data and email addresses author records include publication year and title of articles. Article pages contain author names, abstract and keywords, and provide online access link to the complete article. With all these features the app is an important and useful extension of the actual web pages for many.
